The Simple Solution
by M. Sidney Wallace
Throughout the history of the world great nations rose and fell,
based on the singular visions of a solitary individual.
Occasionally impressive nations would endure for several generations
based on the dreams, teachings, and aspirations of the patriarch.
Fortunately as time passed, subordinate generations start to think
for themselves and the government starts to crumble.
In by gone days the common man knew his place in society from birth,
and punished if he tried to advance. In the 1600’s European
countries were controlled by Kings and Queens who had inherited
their power from an earlier visionary in their clan. Ancient Middle
Eastern countries picked their leaders from an occasional warrior
for a generation or two, but always reverted to their backward
looking religious leaders. In China, the masses believed that
their emperor was ordained by their religion to rule them.
Life expectancy was short and few lived long enough to comprehend
the fallacy of these ideas.
The new world was established with European refugees seeking freedom
from the failed policies of their homeland’s government. These
common man immigrants quickly realized they could solve their own
problems, with superior results, without any divine intervention
from a governmental leader in another world. Some of these
individuals failed, but in failing their life was still better than
those still living in the Old World.
As America turned the calendar to the twenty-first century there
arose a group of intellectuals in old Europe that believed that
mankind could only advance by living and working in a communal
society ruled by these erudite intellectuals in government.
The names of some of these enslaving individuals were Lenin,
Mussolini, Hitler, and Stalin. Millions had to accept that
these individuals knew what was best for them or they would be
terminated.
These communal or socialistic ideas became the doctrine of the
intellectuals in the existing governments. Every European
country subscribed to John Maynard Keynes’ economic theory that
government could, and should make all economic decisions for the
populous. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
The politburo in Washington needs to realize that economics is the
study of all of the financial decisions in a free market and not
government imposed activities in a closed system. It is the
collective decisions of the common man, making individual decisions
for his own wellbeing that causes an economy to thrive and prosper.
When a government determines it knows best for each of its citizens
in all circumstances, there can be only one outcome. That
government must enforce their decisions with force, which will lead
to a life in slavery. Eventually, the common man will revolt
and that government will collapse.
The simple solution will be for each citizen to decide what is best
for him or her, and then take responsibility for their own
decisions. Results: a smaller government, less taxes, a more
prosperous economy and a higher standard of living for everyone
willing to work for their rewards. This is what built
the United States into the greatest nation in the history of the
world. However, this philosophy is being discarded for the failed
communal socialist ideas of Karl Marx, Franklin Delano Roosevelt,
and John Maynard Keynes. Those desiring the exercise of power,
let them use this power to enforce individual citizens
taking responsibility for their own actions.
