Kuryakyn Silver Bullets Lights
By Harry Yonker

Researching the available supplemental lights to add to my 2003 Harley I selected the Kuryakyn Silver Bullets as an ideal candidate.  Great looks, sleek slim design, high polished chrome, and a high output halogen lamp in a very compact design to keep the streamlined looks of my Sportster intact.

I had the knowledgeable folks a Pine Forrest Cycle in Pensacola install them for me including new chrome handle bar switch housing.  The
installation job was outstanding with the Kuryakyn Silver Bullets attached to the engine guard via p-claps and an exceptional wiring job resulted in these petite lights to do little in distracting from the smooth lines of my Harley.

Operational wise the 55 watt beam produced by these little bullets was exceptional.  Because they were mounted low on the engine guard the lighting  ahead of the bike produced a triangular shape that many other rides put it,  "you look like a UFO going down the road".

At night while riding with other bikers the lights where so bright, I would have to shut them down to keep from blinding the riders in front of me. So initially I was overall pleased with the job they did and they met all my expectations.

Unfortunately the initial euphoria of these lights were soon tempered by the fact they were not engineered up to a level that would allow them to perform over the long run when subjected to the nominal vibrations of a Harley.

First in manifested itself on the halogen bulbs burning out in just a couple months and then the ceramic plug that attached to the halogen lights broke.  The first time it happened Kuryakyn replaced it under warranty and Pine Forrest Cycle Shop installed them with no charge.  The problem is a few months latter  the halogens went out and another month latter one the other Silver bullet stopped working .  When I went to replace the Halogens again it was discovered  that this time both ceramic connectors had cracked.

The great guys a Pine Forrest Cycle made a call to Kuryakyn and was told  they were not going to replace them because it had gone past warranty.  Pine Forrest Cycle would have again installed them free of charge had Kuryakyn replaced the defective lights.

So where do we stand on this product Kuryakyn's long term commitment on service after the sale seems to be sorely lacking.  They were explained the problem, that the problem had happened before, and this time Kuryakyn elected not to correct the problem what so ever.

From our observations the Kuryakyn Silver Bullets appear not to be engineered to take the normal vibration of a Harley and in our opinion shouldn't be used on one.

Overall I rate this product 1-1/2 stars out of 5
